Phit-Nan-So – Schutzraum 庇護所 TING Chaong-Wen, SUN Shang-Chi 丁昶文、孫尚綺 Dates: September 1 to 12, 2020 展期: 2020年9月1日至9月12日 Venue: BAUHAUS – MUSEUM WEIMAR 地點: 威瑪包浩斯博物館 ( Installation view of Phit-Nan-So – Schutzraum, BAUHAUS – MUSEUM WEIMAR, 2020 )
Choreographer Shang-Chi Sun and visual artist Chaong-Wen Ting, both of whom live in Taipei and Berlin, address the term «home» from their own idiosyncratic perspective. They call their joint work for KUNSTFEST WEIMAR at the BAUHAUS- MUSEUM WEIMAR «Phit-Nan-So – Shelter», or interpreted more widely, «Place of Refuge» or indeed «Home». Visual arts, performance and music enter a dialogue in a very modern Bauhaus sense in this installation. As early as mid-August, Chaong-Wen Ting will start working on his installation at the BAUHAUS-MUSEUM WEIMAR, using materials he has previously collected in and around Weimar. His work can still be observed in progress during the first half of the festival. During the final KUNSTFEST WEIMAR week, Shang-Chi Sun, along with five members of his dance company, is creating choreography for the installation, including live music such as «Interieur I» by Helmut Lachenmann. Shang-Chi Sun’s choreography in particular, which focuses on the topic of «change» or «transformation», also gives the project a political dimension. Sun is especially interested in «how everyday symbols can be manipulated to undergo transformation».
